    Default .22 LR ammo

    what ammo do we use!
guys ammo do you use for general vermin hunting and target shooting with the .22 lr?

    Fiochi TT sport R105/ 50
Selior & Bellot sub sonic R86/50
    Remington High Velocity R77/50
    Winchester 555

I am not sure what to use performance wise.
    thanks

You need to test them all and see what ammo the rifle likes

The high velocity hollow points will give the best terminal performace, provided shot placement is good and the target animals are within the performance limits of the cartridge. I have taken quite a few vervet monkeys with .22lr and definitely saw better reaction to solid hits with the HVHP rounds compared to standard velocity solids. However, good hits with any of the offferings does the job.

All I can add to the above good answers is that you cant test just 5 or 10 rounds to determine accuracy of the tested cartridges.
I found that after cleaning the bore on my 22 it requires at least 100-200 rounds to get back to usual consistency. This is why I clean everything but the bore. Bore gets inspected but not scrubbed.
Changing between brands requires at least 50 rounds on a run in bore (after cleaning) to get a true reflection on the performance of a specific brand with regards to accuracy.
Once you find a combo that works well. Buy as much as you can afford (sec 16 dependent)
