Default Brno Model 2 - Feeding Problems

    Morning

I purchased an old (1975) Brno .22 which has problems feeding the rounds into the chamber. I'm using Remington Thunderbolt rounds but whatever i try, i can't get a single round to feed.

    Any suggestions?

    Could it be the ammo?

These BRNO"s are pretty bullet proof.

All i can say is that it is more than likely a magazine problem, assuming your feeding ramp and chamber are clean.

On the obvious side...try different ammo...try different mag.
Check if ammo will feed by hand without mag....place cartridge in chamber and close bolt.

Bolt clip...just seen your other post....could the feeding problem not be connected to your bolt problem.Seems like a bit of a coincidence....bolt assembled correctly?

The bolt clip was broken by a heavy handed friend of mine. We pulled it apart to clean as it wasn't feeding prior to it been broken.

I'm going to try the process of elimination then... ammo, magazine, etc

    Will keep you posted.

Are the extractor claws in the right way round?

what mag capacity are you trying to use? if its an aftermarket ten or fifteen round mag try downloading them a bit and see if it feeds.

You would have to provide a bit more detail. Is the round leaving the mag? Is the round seating onto the bolt?, or is it the angle of the round that prevents it from chambering?

I wouldn't have a clue which way the extractor claws are meant to go. Savuti's gunsmith put them in so i guess they would be correct.

Using the original 5 round magazine.

The round is leaving the magazine, and seems to be only half way into the bolt claws, which then creates an angle which seems to be preventing it from entering the chamber.

They are the right way round, so all good there.

Have you tried different ammo, my model 1 will not feed CCI mini mags and does exactly what you describe, hits the top of the chamber, but feeds flawlessly with Winchester power points.

The other thing to check is that the magazine spring is in the right way round, if you have had it apart for cleaning.

    Thanks Spudattack.

I personally haven't opened the magazine, but ive only had the rifle for a month so its possible someone else has.

I'll pull it apart and have a look.
