I. Hollis & Sons?

Hi Guys,

I require assistance with regards to two I Hollis & Sons weapons of my Uncle's deceased estate. Are they worth anything? One is in good condition with rifled octagon barrel the other shorter one requires attention.

The black powder muzzle loader one is a fairly decent gun. No licence needed, and therefore easier to sell or keep. Not sure of values, maybe in the R2500-R4000 range, but not sure as I cannot see any condition issues.
The other appears to be a type of Snider conversion, and probably takes a cartridge needing a licence. Condition is not good, and therefore it has no great value. Maybe R750 or so for parts, unless someone wants to restore it. You could try for R1500 and see what offers you get. With a licence, it isn't going to sell easily though.
These are thumb-suck prices though.

I agree on the breech loader.

Setting a value for the ML would depend on whether it is a "shooter" or a "wall hanger" so it would need to be inspected to see what the bore condition is like and to see if it would be safe to fire. I. Hollis guns are nothing special. They pretty much made guns for the masses and they are not too rare. Condition and usability will dictate the worth.
