Looking forward to it. Feels like it's going to be a great year for Tac Driver and PRS in SA

With the range restriction to 600m on one day events I think even the hits of a 223 will be reasonable to spot, if you can hit it.

(I tested this with my semi shooting a 69gr at 2800fps and I could hear and see my hits on a 300x300mm plate)

Personally I think a 223 gas gun is somewhat more than 1 shot behind a bolt gun. Speed is lower as well as accuracy. The advantage of quick/more follow up shots are now removed ...

Hopefully I can make it to some events this year!

What I'd like to know is where can one train for this kind of thing.

    Honestly... your local 100m range.

    Sounds crazy, but it works.

Check out this video of the 65Guys training barricade.

btw: you don't need a barricade, there are lots of 'props' at your local range.

Biggest thing is not to sit at the bench and punch endless groups... that's meaningless training.

    Simple exercise:
Get prone behind the rifle, shoot 1 shot, jump up, do a jumping jack, then get back down prone and shoot another shot.
Keep it under 1 MOA, and see how fast you can fire 6 shot. (set a PAR timer if you have one).
    Alternatives:
    - 1 shot prone, next shot off bench (standing)... rinse, repeat
    - Prone, 1 shot strong side, then 1 shot weak side
    - etc

If you can think it, so can the Match Director.

If a training institute is what you're looking for, Tac Driver (www.tacdriver.co.za) is now running training courses focused on Long Range Precision Rifle down in the Cape.
    - Intro to Precision Rifle
    - Intermediate Precision Rifle - Barricades / Position shooting
    - Advanced Precision Rifle - Extended Long Range & High Angle

In Joburg you can speak to Sean at www.longrangeshootingsa.co.za for similar type courses.

I'm not sure who does similar in the KZN area ? (Any recommendations ?)
