Re: Hunting with 50 cal
Hi Webster,
Little late but currently;
- Peregrine https://besthuntingbullets.com/home/...2-packaging-50 (750gr - 1100gr Rangemaster)
- Hornday https://www.hornady.com/bullets/rifl...50-gr-a-max#!/ (750gr AMAX)
- TenX http://tenxbullets.com/ (720gr)
- CuttingEdge https://cuttingedgebullets.com/510-7...match-tactical (720gr)
- Advsp (Advanced Shooting Supplies - https://advsp.co.za/ (700gr)
- Ballistix
The highest BC available is from Peregrine bullets, the 750gr has a listed bc of 1.147, but from technical data and stamped on the box is 1.060 (Hornady AMAX750 indicates a bc of 1.050)

Re: Hunting with 50 cal
Hi A-R,
I get that G1 is for flat base and G7 for BoatTail
Maybe you should contact Hornady then and ask them to change the G1 BC indicated to G7 on the site:
https://www.hornady.com/ammunition/r...a-max-match#!/
- I mean, they obviously have it wrong...or do they ?

Re: Hunting with 50 cal
I assume you gents are discussing 12,7 x 99mm when you mention 50 cal? There is also the 12,7 x 108mm out there, courtesy of Russia.

Re: Hunting with 50 cal
Yes, they obviously have it wrong. And they know it. If you use the G7 drag curve, you would see that the A-max BC does not compare very well to the competition.
Clever marketing technique to get people to buy it.

Re: Hunting with 50 cal
Yes indeed, but it makes for better marketing.
There are various websites that give more accurate G7 BC numbers. Bryan Litz also did empirical tests on various popular bullets and published the results.
You will also need the actual bullet lengths for most ballistic calculators.
