    Default Knife Maintenance

    Hi,

What is the right oil to use to lubricate my folder.

How do I clean my knives properly?
    Thanks in advance.

    Lots of thoughts regarding this.

I prefer a very light coating of Ballistol on my blades as it is food safe (in my view of the term) and works okay in preventing rust.

I also use it on the pivot with good results.

As for cleaning, I think a sonic cleaner is probably the best bet. Me I just get in there with tissue paper and cotton swabs.

I use RAM just spray, spray it lekker wipe off. Dove ear bud to reach the difficult places and carry on.

Quick release oil for pivot lubrication, ear buds for lint... if pivots "crunchy" open and close the blade repeatedly while submerged in soapy water followed by excessive rinsing, drying and oiling

Thank for the suggestions. I can't seem to find where to buy any of the products online. I'm in Cape Town. Any suggestions?

What kind of knife? I strip mine completely two to three times a year, wash everything in sunlight and reassemble with lubricants. I have used grease, 3in1, olive oil, Q20. Basically anything which lubricates.

I'll be using it on the Spyderco Dragon fly2 and Delica 4. I'm not ready to try take the knives apart yet. I'm afraid I won't be able to reassemble.
