Re: Knife Maintenance
I was sanding down the sharp edges on the whole with 1000grit sandpaper and made these scratches on the blade.

Re: Knife Maintenance
Eish. You might have to ask a knifemaker to give that a new ground look.
Funny enough I gave my Dragonfly a snail trail also because I was trying to make the hole a little less sharp. Mine's an absolute user so I don't mind.
Do not take lockback Spydies apart. From what I've seen you need about 5 hands to reassemble them.Sent electronically, thus not signed.

Re: Knife Maintenance
Gman - just get some R10 600 or 800 grit water paper from your local h/wares troe and sand with your finger along with the current finish ie. spine to edge rather than point to grip. A bit of gob helps.

Re: Knife Maintenance
If you can't or won't or don't want to disassemble your knife there are two other options: either move it in warm soapy water until the action is smooth, then dry and oil it; or loosen the screws slightly (1/4 to 3/4 turn) and repeat the process.
On the polishing question: the scratch shows so clearly because it runs across the sanding grains. Get some 600 grit paper and a piece of wine cork (medium stiff rubber works well). Drape the paper over the cork and run it in the direction of the old sanding grains. Don't use your finger because it will make a hollow spot which will show. And use plenty of water.

Re: Knife Maintenance
Ok. So it's actually looking a lot better. It's only visible when it reflects the light at a certain angle.
I put some Green Rouge on a cloth and buffed it for about 20min. I'm really happy with the result.
