I'm very sorry to hear about Boelie. Its always sad when a loved dog passes.
There is no reason to feel guilty. Symptoms would already have started by the time he got to a vet. It would already have been too late. Even if he got to a vet earlier there would still be no guarantees. They don't have ICU's and ventilators for dogs.

Dogs also do very bad with Cape Cobra bites.
There is a story of someone's dog only living for about 30 minutes after a bite.
On the other hand they are quite tough when it comes to Puffadders.

RIP Boelie. Know the feeling. Ive lost a jack russel to a puffadder but boerboel and mixed breed made it. 3 different encounters. Nothing much left of the snakes.
