Default Rossi .44 Mag Lever Action Info

I've been offered a Rossi .44 Mag lever action rifle in good nick for Mahala. No sane man would say no to free guns but I'd like a bit of input from the forum.

Any comments on the rifle itself, in terms of quality, sights, ergonomics etc? I heard that the Rossi's had a problem with headspace (I have no idea what that means!)

I had a large unexpected expense and have had to bin my dreams of a semi-auto rifle for now. Would the Rossi be adequate (maybe not ideal) for 3-gun shoots?

Any comments on the rifle would be appreciated

finishing is good quility and all round very nice looking gun.

He has had some breech block problems with it but besides that a great gun

he paid 1500 for he's incl a bushnell scope and bracket.

You could run it in IDPA 3 gun. A couple of guys run lever guns. Ive only seen one .44 Rossi, the others were .357.

The .44 had some extraction problems with hot ammo, but otherwise ran fine. Not sure that it will be cheaper to feed than a .223 though!!

Reloading will be easier for it.

what I have read on numerous international posts and reviews on this rifle is that it seems to be quite hardy and robust in fact I cant remeber what post but it was given a exeptional hardness rating by someone.

If you dont want it I will love to have it

I'll keep it. I can't afford any fancy semi-auto rifles at the moment and the Rossi seems like a nice little rifle. Trying to work out how much it will cost to feed. I read in another thread that it digests cast lead bullets quite nicely. Just looking at the cost of ammo so that I can get some brass

Sweet Dave. Useful little carbine your getting there. I reckon as long as you avoid the urge to load dragon slayer monster magnums you will be GTG.

Had a lever in .257 in our detail today at the GCDPC 3 Gun shooter aquitted himself very well with it! Light handy little rifle min. recoil - would also make a very usefull SD home gun especially for younger members of the family or woman. Lighter than most semi auto's. Accurate enough as well either with scope or open iron sight. PM B3 he shoots a lever in .44 Mag not sure of the make. Take it put it up as MOG (manually operated gun)SADPA 3 GUN
