Has anybody got any experience with SAKO's factory mounts for the Tikka T3?

Re: SAKO factory mounts
Ok, so I guess nobody has...
Does anybody know where I can find a set in Jhb or Pta? I was told a while back that there is an optics shop close to Rhema church that sells it, but I can't remember the name, and I can't find any info online. Anybody?

Re: SAKO factory mounts
Hi, I posted this on the Sako/Tikka tech query thread, but thought I mmight post it here as well. I got a set of tikka bases from Frontier in Stilfontein. R550. I had to get rings from the gunshop in Namibia. What a mission. R1200. Postage + import tax R800. So my mounting system cost me R2550. Cheap eh? I think theyr'e worth it, the rings have a plastic ring on the inside that centres the scope perfectly and ensures an even grip. Also prevents ring marks on scope. the bases are super solid with recoil pins so that they cant move. I have them on a Tikka T3. Make sure you get Tikka bases, not Sako, as they differ slightly. If you don't come right I have a scondhand set of genuine sako optilock rings for sale for R550.

Re: SAKO factory mounts
Thanks. I bought a set on ebay last year, but the South-African postal service never sent me the delivery notification, so I didn't know it had arrived and the set was returned to sender, never to be heard from again. That was about R1000 for the whole ring and base set. I'm scanning ebay for another go at it, but I havn't really found anything.

Re: SAKO factory mounts
You can also ask your local dealer for the EAW mounts.
Great mounts but expensive!

Re: SAKO factory mounts
I recently ordered SAKO 30mm optilock rings from Euro-optics in the US. With shipping they worked out to about $129.75 (+- R930.00). I had the bases and only required the 30mm rings.
I received them after 2 weeks from date of order and the service is excellent.
I could have got the rings locally but the dealer would not sell them to me due to not buying my rifle there. They in fact worked out cheaper bringing them in from the US with shipping costs than local.
Herewith the website where I ordered my rings.

Re: SAKO factory mounts
I now also used eurooptic.com for buying the rings, and they were delivered after about 2 weeks. They were the only place that had the Extra-low rings. They're a bit more expensive than other places, but at least they have stock of the rings.
The bases were another story...
I ordered a set from Opticsplanet.com, and waited 4 weeks for them to ship it. They never did, and I got in touch with their support people on the site, who were super efficient, but they didn't have stock and the estimated another 3-4 weeks.
The end result was that after a long internet search I found the bases at Haylettgrangeshootingsupplies.com for 38 Pounds + 9 Pounds shipping. Should be getting them in 2 weeks.
So, Sako factory mounts, expensive, and a mission to come by. I'll put them through their paces this season and post a report, so watch this space...
