Buck and Slugs

I'm curious if anyone has used or might be using any of the newer reduced recoil ('Tactical') Buckshot or slugs produced in the US for SD or hunting use in shotguns?

The new (relatively) Federal FliteControl wads are nothing short of amazing, and more so when velocities are reduced. I shot some Federal 8 Pellet Tactical Buck a week or so ago from an 18in barreled IC choked Police Model 870 and was getting consistent 4in patterns at 15yd...yes, you read that correctly...4in patterns! It opened to a little more than 6in at 25yd. For hunters, Federal also makes several hunting shotshell loads using the FliteControl wads. AFIK they are not yet available for reloaders.

Velocity on the Federal tactical loads is around 1145FPS for Buck and 1325FPS for the 1oz slugs. Field reports from LE agencies who have used the lower velocity Buck for many years now show no decrease in effectiveness on target but a 30% or so reduction in felt recoil. Federal and Speer Buck uses pellets with hardened (4% antimony) ahot and the Federal also uses copper plating. The 8 pellet loads pattern better and tighter than the others due to being stacked more evenly in the case, but the 9 pellet #00 also patterns very well.

Other companies make similar products but none have done so as long as Federal, none harden or plate their low recoil Buckshot, and none have the same LE market share.

I have never seen any reduced recoil stuff on sale here. If I found the flite control stuff I'd be all over it like white on rice.

Nope.. Havent seen any and would be keen to get those wads!
