This makes me curious whether a completely 3D printed suppressor would work... Obviously it wont last very long, but if you could get say 5 shots out of it, it could have some use as a 'disposable suppressor' when going hunting maybe. It will save on quite a bit of weight.

I've seen (video) of a supposedly polymer suppressor for Glocks.

There are guys that print in titanium. I suspect the cost may be eye watering, though.

Yeah.... Not quite what I had in mind. I know you can print metals these days, but I am thinking a normal home plastic FDM 3D printer. I am wondering because I am about to buy myself one. A 3D printed suppressor is really not at the top of the list of stuff I would like to print, and I don't think I am brave enough to strap one onto my 308 to 'see what happens', but I am still very curious.

Remember that a rifle supressor has to contain significant pressure, most likely upward of 10 Bar, and a sharp shock load combined with high heat. A "plastic" supressor could survive on a pistol, as the stresses are much lower. A "plastic" rifle supressor would take some serious design, will not be very light and won't last many shots. Not really a cost effective option IMHO.

A small plastic soft drink bottle makes a decent disposable supressor on a 22LR rifle. You just need an adaptor that lets you screw the bottle on to the barrel. The first shot punches a hole in the bottle base, that you have to tidy up a little with a pocket knife.
