Right so can we have a vote

I have Winchester silvertips +P or PMP semi-jacketed Hollow points for the .38 special.

what would be your choice for SD carry?

The 158gr PMP SJHP's ?
125gr +P silvertips ?

I would take them in this order.

125gr Winchester Silvertip +P
125gr PMP JHP (control issues)
158gr SJHP
110gr Silvertip std velocity.

The performance of the 125gr +P is pretty much in line with others but tends to not expand through clothing.
The PMP 158gr does not expand at all.

Winchester +P 125-grain SJHP
Bare:
124.3 .485 13.1 726fps
124.5 .451 13.9 729fps
Clothed:
124.8 .383 19.2 720fps
125 No expansion 19.8 720fps

Silvertip gets my vote. I tested the 158gr PMP SJHP and it failed to expand in water...
Not very impressive considering the price.

If possible, try and track down some 125gr +P Remington Golden Sabers that came in the last batch. Southern Arms had some until recently.

Of the two the PMP. But with one caveat shoot at least 100 through your gun all double action. If any lightstrike mod the gun or find ammo with softer primers.
