    Default SAS Level 1 . . . my experience

    Hi All,

    Completed my SAS L1 this past weekend and wanted to share my experience.

    I am a 46 year old, mid-level fitness, bench shooting, gun loving male. Friends completed the L1 last year and it peaked my interest.

    My Gear:
    *5.11 Rush 12 bag with full L1 packing gear (9.4kgs)
    *Colt LE6940 with ACOG TA01NSN
    * Boots, hat, ear-pro's etc

    I started a brisk 3.6km walk that I had to complete in 40min with full gear. That first incline did work me over, won't lie. I completed the walk in 34min. On my return a RO immediatly took me to a 100m shooting lane to engauge a 230mm paper plate target. The goal, 10 x hits within 4min.

    I wanted to go prone, but the grass was to long and I ended up shooting from the seated position. My heart-rate and heavy breathing from the walk made this pretty challenging in the seated position. I should have just gone prone and shot through the grass.

    4min later, I was happy to have hit the paper plate 12 times after firing a total of 20 rounds.

    Went on to clean the rifle thoroughly within a 15min time limit for inspection.

    I earned my 2018 Level 1 patch which I'm very proud of.

    I concluded the day with a 300m - 50m walk and stalk shooting drill that also challenged me.

    Wanted to thank Craig and his team for pushing me, and for the opportunity. This Basic Individual Readiness Test was an experience that I would highly recommend to all. Really looking forward to complete my L2 & L3 in the coming months.

    This T-Shirt? Hahaha. For what I paid for that Colt, you would need to pry it from my cold dead hands

    Well done LawDel and congratulations on passing the L 1 on your first attempt!

    It was good to meet you and it would be great if you could joint us for a L 2 or 3 in the near future.

    Well, it might happen sooner rather than later if the planets align, choose your T-Shirt wisely.
