Did you find the range at Knights?. I am also looking for a rifle range (East Rand) and do not know where to go.
Please advise where the Knights range is?

Warm but not quite correct.
Mopani Shooting Range, (a Municipal Range on the Bapsfontein Rd, near ERWAT), -that we shared, was initially closed about two or three years ago because SAPS -who were training some 30 reservists on R5's and handguns- apparently weren't really keeping a good eye on them, -according to witnesses-. A trainee let off an R5 round which hit another trainee through the neck. The victim trainee died later. The range was instantly closed as a crime scene, then within a week or so SABS was called in and declared the range out of spec. (backstops too low etc etc). NB, none of this was reported in the newspapers, go figure.
As we (Mopani Pistol Club) had been in debate/ dispute with Ekurhuleni Municipality for some time over our terms of contract, the range stayed closed as neither we nor the Municipality was prepared to commit funds to upgrading it to within spec. We were told by the Municipality to look around for a new site and were at one stage told to consider an old bowling alley next to Pick n Pay, Birchleigh North. 2400 squares would have been nice, (even if indoor), the developers of the old site, (Africa the Theme park), had to set aside funds to all the occupants of the old site plus the municipality also had funds in the Sports kitty.
Unfortunately, 'Theme Park Africa' is still faffing around for development funds, so we wait, and wait. Three years now. We''l keeep you posted (but don't hold your breath).

Ranges : East Rand / South-East of Pta
Hi,
There's a very nice range just off Garsfontein Road, about 5km after you cross over the R25 (Bapsfontein/Bronkhorstspruit road), it's called Blue Gum Valley Shooting Range - can be googled for contact info.
300m rifle range (if i remember correctly), handgun ranges, shotgun 'area' etc.
Very nice surroundings.
