No. Only the interdict against collecting expired licence firearms was granted. The rest will only be determined in due course.

There was one order which basically postponed the hearing of all the issues to a date in the future and included an immediate interdict against SAPS collecting expired licence firearms until the matter was finally determined on that future date.

So no GOSA did not make anything up. I think somebody whi did not understand the order misrepored what the court ordered.

So the fight is still on.

    GK21 is quite correct.

Only the interim interdict was enrolled for hearing in the urgent court. The main relief does not qualify as urgent for purposes of the urgent court. One of the elements that the court needed to consider in deciding whether to grant the interdict, is whether there were reasonable prospects of success in respect of the main relief. To consider that, the main relief needed to be formulated. The court held that there were reasonable prospects of success on the main relief. The court therefore granted the interdict. The order is thus: Interim interdict granted; the main relief (formulated and set out in the order) is postponed to the ordinary course.

The fight is still on. And, the fight is a good one. A judge has already held that prospects of success on the main relief are reaonable.

The main relief is directed at allowing late/expired renewals to be accepted and processed.

    Absolutely correct.

Preventing SAPS from collecting expired-licence firearms and threatening people is all that is required to maintain the status quo to get us to the main app.

It significantly (fatally) shafts the proposed upcoming amnesty, though...

Thank you. A concise and very understandable version.

NOW the true value of the GOSA Renewal Rescue Pack comes to the fore.

In this interim period we need expired-licence holders to prove their bona fides... both establishing their "good cause shown" via the affidavit AF1, and that they have taken "all reasonable steps to comply with the law" via affidavit AF2. Returning AF2 to GOSA also helps us to build evidence for Parliament, and for future legal action via a Class Action.

Any indication as to when the non-urgent application will be heard in court?

So what do those with an expired white license have to do? Are we still waiting for the final go ahead in order to re-apply?
