yes many of these 'replica' katanas are build VERY flimsy, they are NOT made to be swung around or cut, the one I have, would have seen the blade fly off, since it was NOT properly fixed to the handle! it merely looked good. Then you get the cut ready swords, they are intended to do some cuts, and are built as such, but they also tend to cost a bit more, normally a few thousand rand.
at the end of the day, confirm what you have, and why you really want a sharp blade, that somebody is likely to pick up and swing around...
