Buffalo hunt gone wrong
I don't see this discussed before.
I got this video via WhatsApp. Close call on this hunt.
Also received a voice note with the video. How true it is I don't know, but it said the guy with the silencer was a 223 of all things, on a buffalo hunt.

Re: Buffalo hunt gone wrong
The add-on I heard (voice message) indicated that this was not a normal buffalo hunt, it was a wounded buffalo shot by a bowhunter.
And I heard .243 Win (with a SCOPE!). The other gun apparently a .375.
If all I had was a .243 and needed to shoot a buffalo, I'd be doing it from at least 500m away. Them buffalo are dangerous...

Re: Buffalo hunt gone wrong
The news paper article said, Crosbow, late afternoon to far back, stomach wound. Hunt was called of at last light. Next morning follow up with .375 and 30-06.

Re: Buffalo hunt gone wrong
This. Argument was that the .30-06 would be used if the buffalo presented a shot at distance, as it had a nice scope on it. .375 was to be used in close quarters. .375 is fine for buffalo, but whoever thought that a "long range .30-06" is the perfect rifle to take into the bush to take on a wounded buffalo needs to have his head checked.

Two rifles is better than one 375 even if the extra is a 30-06.Not everyone has a battery of guns lying around.

Re: Buffalo hunt gone wrong
The amount wrong in the video is scary.
The jack russel constantly in between that distracts you. The pure fact that they are under gunned, they were very slow to reload and get another shot into that buffalo, after the first shot, they almost look happy with themselves and then the oh sh1t moment comes.
All in all i think they came away from it fairly light.
I do hope the PH loses his license.

Did the guy survive and any major injuries? Is there a link to the article as I cannot find it?
