Look at the Maglastic options at Tactical Quartermaster.

Contact CHS Guns they are the importers of the Can Can and the Undertech range both of which are good quality. From personal experience if you go with an Undertech belly band, get the one with the elastic strap to prevent your firearm from falling out when doing jumps etc.

Not hiking, but if I go for a run I have a small camelback pack on my back where I carry.

I just can't imagine carrying a firearm on your belt and doing 15km+ per day for a few days.
Carry as normal, or as dictacted by whatever bag you carry. Strong-side carry or appendix may be easiest.

I carried 6kg of camera equipment up a mountain the other day, excluding my other supplies, so I cannot see why a 1kg pistol would be any harder :P

I carry always, appendix, even when going to the beach.
Just changes from a G19 to G 26 witch is smaller, keeps it always ready.
Too often you hear of people being robbed in the bush or beach or where ever.
When you hiking, be aware, as when you are in the city of where you are going.
Remember, bad guys will mostly use the ambush to get to you, - from behind bushes, rocks etc, so your gun must be easy to get to.
Its a damn shame that we have to live like this, but thats the reality.

Hiking is dangerous stuff of late.

I say go with OWB and conceal with a vest or such. It is east to dress around a gun if you dress in hiking gear.

For me the days of running with the gun in a camelback are over.
