Either way, you're going to loose money.

F1 split has 50% golden genes. For example a golden bull and a blue cow mated.

F2 split has 75% golden genes. For example golden bull mated with F1 cow.

F3 split has 87,5% golden genes. For example golden bull mated with F2 cow.

Seems fair-ish. R4,500 is a bit steep for a cow, but maybe the F1 thing plays a part. Did you ask if it's F1 or something? Did the PH tell you? If not, I would refuse that extra R1k over a normal cow price.

From a hunting point of view, split animals are worth no more than a normal animal. From a farmer's point if view, they can be sold to another breeder for a bit more than a normal cow. Hopefully the price was discussed beforehand.

The price was R4.5k on the list of animals for normal WB.
The Golden WB and splits were not up and available for hunting.
The animal was shot very early with the sun right behind her. The ID was done by the PH yet under circumstances wasn't easy.
The split WB was tagged with a grean "stud" and number tag in the ear?
The price didn increase yet there was subtle exchange of words between the resident PH and owner.
