Default MAGNET FISHING - Finding Sturmgewehr 44!!

This may interest the history buffs and WW2 era collectors.

What amazes me is how relatively well preserved some of their other finds are.

What is also of interest to me is how similar to the 300 Blackout cartridge the 7.92x33 Kurz is, and notable that this was the rifle that inspired the Soviets' AK-47, although they were not similar, mechanically.

That was a really cool video.

I'm fairly sure that if I lived in Europe metal detecting / magnet fishing would be one of my past times. All that history waiting to be discovered.

Indeed. I did get nervous the way they casually handled some of their finds that were well still live.

Closer to home, I have had similar fantasies of discovering a legendary Boer War era arms cache located in the Ysterklip koppies on a Free State farm that neighbours that of a relative of mine.

I saw a fishing magnet on takealot, and had to google it.
Amazing what these guys are "catching"!
Hopefully nobody gets blown to pieces..
