Re: 3 bushpig, lucky night!
We used to shoot bushpig at night while they fed off the carcasses of cows (sad thing for a cattle farmer, especially if the jackals killed the cow and the calf while she was delivering the calf). Not suggesting you kill your milk cow, but a visit to the butcher might help with some 'old' meat for bait?
I knew some chaps who used 'mielies' for bait. Get the wind right, build a little (comfortable) hide and as soon as you notice spoor at your 'bait station', replenish it, and prepare to spend some quality time in your hide. Night vision will help, else mount a Lightforce light on your rifle. Be prepared to shoot fast and more than once. You won't get much chance.Last edited by GameFarmer; 06-10-2010 at 16:32. Thanks. Sorry for the late reply Hagar....missing link to this post!
I think it was SAKO soft nose that night.(old stuff bought 10-15 years ago) Or possibly one of our local brands called PMP. Not entirely sure.
