Default This Day in History U.S. Army massacres Sioux Indians at Wounded Knee

On December 29, 1890, in the final chapter of America’s long Indian wars

Today December 29 is the day the last massacre of Native Americans by the state troops in US soil.
In 1890 approximately 150–300 Lakota people were slaughtered by US 7th cavalry in the area of Wounded Knee Creek in South Dakota.
14 years earlier in 1876 the same 7th Cavalry regiment led by Gen Custer was defeated and almost annihilated by Native American warriors under the leadership of Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse at the Little Bighorn, Montana.

Let me guess: After disarming them, or while trying to disarm them?

    History tends to get repeated...
