Summary: Steel Challenge has 8 standard stages, five targets each. Always the same stages, so you can track your progress accurately and your time can be compared worldwide.

You can download diagrams of the stage layouts from the web. Normally these diagrams are in feet.

You shoot each stage 5 times, and the worst time is dropped, i.e. the best 4 times are added and that is your stage time (one of the stages is only shot 4 times, best 3 to count).

One target is the stop plate and must be shot last. If you fail to shoot the stop plate, your time is deemed as 30 seconds. If you miss a plate and hit the stop plate, 5 second penalty per missed plate.

Targets include 10" round plates, 12" round plates and 18"x24" rectangular plates. Some stage times can be as low as 2-3 seconds per run or under 10 seconds for the stage (this is top class).

Best to come and have a look even if you don't shoot first time. It is huge fun.

If you don't have DSS or enough ammo, you can always shoot fewer strings.

Won't be competitive, but you can look at your non penalty scores and compare to everyone else

Yes, best 2 of 3. I’ll be shooting shotgun at the next one.

Had a look trough rule book and still unsure.

It says you are not allowed to draw from concealment.

However, I carry apprendix and would like to draw from appendix. Would a AIWB holster be allowed? No garment over, shirt tucked behind holster. Handgun.

Also, are there any divison for an m&p 15 -22 with a red dot ?

    Thank you.

Pump or Semi? Recently got my pump, might want to come through if you don't mind another on your squad?

Wouldn't mind shooting pump also if they have a category for it?

What rounds do you shoot on a steel challenge?

Yes, there is a category for that. A friend uses that exact setup. I’ve shot in that and it’s great fun.

I’m shooting a semi. Don’t mind at all. PM your number to me, I’ll make contact.

A while ago, a guy wanted to draw from appendix and nobody in our squad had a problem with it or could show a rule that he couldn't. I just told him that if he shoots himself in the nuts it is not my problem. All worked out for everybody and he had fun safely.
