    Thanks for this. There was an insert on Voetspore SA about Isandlwana told by a local historian. It was brilliant. The episode was called Battlefields. Here it is.

    Was it not David Rattray? RIP

    My dad did all the curtains at the fugitives drift lodge, and it tagged along (was about 10 years back now). It was an amazing experience sitting next to the camp fire listening to all the stories of the area from various people.

    Was amazing, but what blew me away was the night sky. I’ve never felt so close to the stars. It’s like you could touch them.

    It may well have been, as I was young when we went haha!

    I'll never forget when at shaka's kraal the tour guide making a huge thing of shaka's fire pit being in the shape of a star, never really got it
    We were all there for the warrior stories, formations and battles!

    Wasn't David Rattray sadly lost due to violence in RSA?

    Yup he was killed in an armed robbery on his farm if I remember correctly.

    Fugitives Drift is still being run by his wife.
