Re: Coronavirus. Already here?
Coming from the Northern Hemisphere where flu season is coming to a peak, I am not so sceptical. At the Hospital of 300 odd beds and a 5 bed ICU, we saw 8 dead of Influenza A (H1N1/ swineflu since start November. Apart from one healthy person who got Miocarditis, the rest were end stage COPD, patients on immunosuppressants and oncology patients.
In terms of surviving an extented ICU stay, it depends who look after you and your physical status beforehand. In the end multi organfailure and secondary infections kill you.
At least we do not spend a lot of time indoors without proper ventilation. Those out in the sun with few people around them are at the lowest risk.
For the preppers- isolate yourself now, buy Tamiflu. The only masks that help prevent Aerosol spread diseases is a N95 particle filter.

Problem with masks is that they lose effectiveness after about an hours use unless some kind of germkilling agent has been applied. As they become damp and stay warm from exhaled breath they turn into ideal petri dishes for viruses and bacteria.
Normal N95 partcle masks are only effective when worn by sick people to catch the germs before it spreads.

Re: Coronavirus. Already here?
The good news is that viruses tend to mutate to a more benign and less deadly, strain. Not a more deadly strain. Similar to what happened with Ebola. So as time goes on people's immune system is introduced to a less deadly strain of the virus, and a healthy immune system quickly eradicate the problem.
The worst of this will be felt in China.

Re: Coronavirus. Already here?
FFS i am leaving for a cruise of the far east on Friday.
we where ment to be going to Hong Kong and macu on the cruise but now going to Vietnam instead.
all i am hoping for is that i do not end up in a floating quarantine or get quarantined in some airport somewhere.
travel agent and cruise company all seem pretty confident and happy that correct measure have been put in place
but ja looking forward to seeing someone sneeze on a plane and watching people reactions
