Cheapest way to become a occasional sport shooter
I have my self defense license and one pistol CZ85.
I am interested in becoming an occasional sports shooter which would allow me to get up to 3 more guns.
I have checked the website https://natshoot.co.za/ which offer an occasional sport shooter membership for R610 per year.
Can anyone advise if this is a good route to go?
I assume I would become a member of natshoot and then go to the police and apply for a license to get another gun for sport shooting.
I would go with occasional sports shooting because I don't have the time for dedicated.
Thanks for any help.

Re: Cheapest way to become a occasional sport shooter
R610 in the first year; thereafter R380 per year.
Definitely a good route to go!
Licence to possess firearm for occasional hunting and sports-shooting
15. (1) A firearm in respect of which a licence may be issued in terms of this section is any—
(a) handgun which is not fully automatic;
(b) rifle or shotgun which is not fully or semi-automatic; or
(c) barrel, frame or receiver of a handgun, rifle or shotgun contemplated in paragraph (a) or (b), and which is not a restricted firearm.
(2) The Registrar may issue a licence in terms of this section to any natural person who is an occasional hunter or occasional sports person.
(3) (a) Subject to paragraphs (b), (c) and (d), no person may hold more than four licences issued in terms of this section.
(b) If a person holds a licence issued in terms of section 13, he or she may only hold three licences issued in terms of this section.
You can include something along these lines in your motivation:
The advantage of the NSA National Postal Target Shooting Competition is that I can shoot at any range of choice at any time of my own choice. I am thus not bound to a specific session of target shooting on any given day as is frequently the case at other associations or clubs.
The NSA target shooting competition is also not focused on obtaining national colours, or on the highly competitive sport of Olympic target shooting, and suits my lifestyle as I want to compete with other NSA members, but not on such a high level that I have to be involved with practice and the like, that I have to spend hours to keep up the high levels required for these sport shooting disciplines. My work situation and lifestyle does not allow for that, and I am not so inclined either.
The NSA postal target shooting competition thus presents me with the best alternative to keep in shape with shooting the handgun, and at the same time also being able to shoot at leisure. It is an activity which I have come to enjoy.

[QUOTE=Eastboy;Later if finances permit, I'd like to look at getting a AR15[/QUOTE]
You'll need S16 for an AR.
