    Hi Deon, I’m also undergoing a renewal on my S13 for the first time. I’ve got Safari and Outdoor to do my motivation (they are very helpful) tell them it is for a Section 13. Going to visit my local DFO get the forms, fill them out and submit with the supporting documents. Hope for the best.

    You can find the forms here on the NHSA website

    Go to your DFO and get the forms they want. They have an Annexure A that is not on the SAPS website. My DFO was very helpful and it was quite easy if all the documents are there. You have to motivate why you want the license renewed. I made it short and sweet by saying that the firearm is still used for the purpose I motivated in the first instance.

    Please do not do that. You are wasting money and you are getting CFR used to having complete new motivations with renewals. Just state in a short sentence that your circumstances and needs for the firearm are still the same as it originally was. It is not a new application that needs thorough motivation.

    I'm also in the process of renewing my S13 for the first time and just need to clarify something;

    So I don't have to do a new motivation, but should I attach my original motivation with the application or just stick to the "needs & circumstances not changed" line?

    There is no need to add your old motivation.

    To reiterate what others have said above. Don't do a full blown motivation.

    For anyone doubting, i recently had my Sec 13 renewal approved with the minimal motivation as recommended by the guys above.

    In this case of section 13 renewal, do i renew competency first, wait fot it to be approved then do license renewal or submit both same time

    Do both at the same time. Renewal is different to first time applications
