Laphroaig Select is one of the best entries into the peat bombs, if you ask me. It's cheap enough to buy if you don't like it, it's not a huge loss. It's not bad for the money. At all.

If you like peat the Ben Riach Curiositas is reasonably affordable, Makro sells it.

I have had the Laphroaig quarter cask before, and this select is very much more "rough around the edges" but tastes good still, I struggle to drink it straight and insist on adding a block of ice to it, all the other single malts I drink is straight, Irish I drink with ice.

I am trying a new system were IU buy 2 bottles of "good" whiskey per month, obviously Scottish single malts are my favorite, and the cheaper Irish whiskey to enjoy a bit more care free, I must admit that Tullamore DEW is by far my favorite still, has been for over a year, tried bushmills but its not as great...

Has anyone had a bottle of Sexton Irish Single Malt?

I really liked Bushmills Black Bush, still one of my favourites.
Also Jameson Select Reserve is really good stuff.

In the Irish Isle my next try will for sure be Redbreast 12.

Maybe you can try some Greenspot aswell ?,.also really good stuff!

On the Laphroiag i will maybe try the 10 year one or Quarter Cask ..finances permitted though.
Ben Riach Curiositas maybe a worthy consideration for me.

Uigeadail is my favourite Islay whisky by far. BY FAR. The flavours are more rounded and smooth, and it's a much nicer dram than the 10YO (both Ardbeg and Laphroaig). Interestingly I'm not a huge fan of the Wee Beastie. I find it a bit overpriced for what it is, as it is essentially a young peat bomb, but it's not bad.

i am not a big whiskey person but i enjoy the social part of it. A mate of mine has started getting into the whole scene and I'm busy organising for us to visit the whiskey library in durbanville next week

Thank you, ill have a look at the Greenspot, but that bottle of Sexton will look so nice on the Top Shelf of my bar though hopefully it tastes shit so that it can stay there forever (or until the next prohibition at least)
