I am about to submit for licencing The person whom i bought from has recently died. Will it be a problem to submit my application as the hand gun licence is still in the deceased persons name

Re: Deceased licence holder question
you will need an Executor's letter, confirming that it was sold to you
as soon as the "current" licenced person's ID number is entered into the system at DFO's office, the system will reflect that the person is deceased

Re: Deceased licence holder question
Hi baugust
I went throught the experience when busy with my dad's estate a while back.
If I remember correctly, paperwork all as below.
You will need to scrap the current paperwork you have and get new documents as follows:
A new 271 with current owner completed (deceased person details as they are still the owner), section Type E (estate) completion by executor, an appointment letter of the executor and letter of authority (usually a high court letter of appointment form J85 and form J170), current owner ID copy, executor ID copy, copy of current license (front and back), death certificate, (my mom as executor needed to attach a marriage certificate)
If I can think of anything else I will let you know.
