Re: AR options in SA
Not entirely against the Sig. Right now it seems to be one of the only options as it has a lot going for it. Compared the Daniels it is good value and has some of the upgrades I would like such as the free float M lok hand-guard.
As I have been advised adding a suppressor to it would make it a little too long for some extra duties.
I might go the Sig route and run it without a suppressor.
At least I have a couple of weeks to decide

Re: AR options in SA
That S&O shop have got Rugers in stock with rifle length gas systems and Mlok rails for about 22k.The trigger is way above any normal Mil Spec AR trigger.......You wil be hard pressed to find a better buy at the price. I shoot both DD and Armalite and that would be my next buy in AR from price perspective.....bloody good reviews on Hickok 45 etc.......just a thought.

Re: AR options in SA
It happens, have found my foot in my mouth many, many times
There's a problem with "naming" the barrel profiles in the AR universe: that picture is from the site ar15barrels.com and they call this profile "Special Purpose Rifle profile", not heavy. Why? Because they also have even heavier profile barrels and the bull-profile on top of that. I have three uppers which are based on the Bushmaster heavy barrel, which are almost exactly like the barrels in this picture.
Why this profile, or something very similar to this? The resulting carbine should be relatively lightweight and short barreled for ease of use in confined spaces and outdoors alike with and without a suppressor having the ability to make considerable damage up to 300 meters. This profile isn't too heavy and because of its heat dissipation characteristics, barrel life will be much longer than of Government profile or a pencil profile barrel.
This is why my XM177E1 lookalike has a heavy profile barrel hidden under the handguard:
This is more or less like the 14,5" barreled end result, but with a standard buffer tube:

Re: AR options in SA
Funnily enough the MP15 Sport 2 has a heavier than usual barrel profile
