Browning Hi Power for EDC ?
Hi Everyone,
Once this lockdown comes to an end i'll be licensing a Hi Power. I've shot a couple of Hi powers a few times in my life and always found that it was faster to place on target and more accurate than my Glock 19 Gen 3 with XS Big Dot sights.
I just wanted to know if anyone on this forum currently EDC's a Hi Power (or clone) and what are your thoughts on it ?
i can see that the longer slide may be a problem.

Browning Hi Power for EDC ?
I don’t think it makes any sense carrying an old gun like the BHP when you have one of if not the best all round carry guns in the world.
Train more with the G19 and you will become proficient with it. Keep the BHP for range pew.

Re: Browning Hi Power for EDC ?
Both guns are inherently accurate. Like with most guns, saying that the gun is inaccurate is more of an admission that it is the user who is not shooting the gun accurately. You can shoot the Glock as accurately as you shoot the BHP if you spend more time training and/or competing with her.
I have the G19 that I EDC when I'm not edc'ing my G43.
I also recently acquired an M80 (BHP) which I intend licensing on s16. I will probably never edc this because its heavy and more importantly, it does not have a firing pin safety block which is a safety feature that most modern carry pistols have. If you do edc the BHP, carry her cocked and locked.
Cheers.

Re: Browning Hi Power for EDC ?
Carried one for 7 years.
Pros:
1. Slim and carries and conceals well for a full sized pistol.
2. Trigger is amazing.
3. Modern magazines provide good capacity
4. Points, handled well and shoots very nice.
Cons:
1. Spares are non existent. Reliability kits cost a lot to import.
2. The basic blade front sight is not so great. Not easy to upgrade.
3. Weight when carrying.
4. For self defence at night a weapon mounted light is ideal. Need some work to get this on a high power.
I love them. If money was not an issue I would buy 3 of these and carry them all day every day.
But reality is that to run them in sport and practice will need spares.
Practice can make the 19 be as comfortable and easy to shoot as the BHP.

Re: Browning Hi Power for EDC ?
I ended up making my own kydex holster with enough material on the back end to cover the hammer as well.
I also had a good experience with a leather hybrid kydex holster. It limits your carry position somewhat.
I deburred the hammer myself. This I do not recommend, as it might affect the reliability.

As @Griffin mentioned MultiDimensional Warriors (MDW) are top notch trainers who regularly train a multitude of disciplines at FBSSC, they're pretty much the only trainers who consistently host classes in CPT. Arno from Kembativ Concepts occasionally comes down to CPT if he can muster up enough students for his classes and he is also an excellent trainer! And that is pretty much it unfortunately...
I'd also recommend taking a Stop The Bleed course hosted by Wild Medix!

Out proper sights on your 19,take a basic marksmanship class and practice.
The XS system is an attempt to carry over that style of sight from express type rifles. It doesn't work principally because of sight radius and the fact that you have less points of contact.Cattle die, kindred die, every man is mortal:
But I know one thing that never dies,
the glory of the great dead.
