I have also been thinking of getting a AR or AR style rifle and have read and watched some what regarding what is best budget AR.
As i am new to AR platform, I am a bit confused as to what to get ........ do i "bite the bullet" and get a 556/223 or do i get a .22 and get to know this platform before i get 556. If i get .22 then my wife and kid can also use .......
Budget is flexible anything up to about 20k (before upgrades) .... but i would prefer to keep it low seeing its my first AR or what is the thought trend around this?
Also i have not heard any mention of Mossberg????
    Any assistance will be helpful
Stag Arms make great AR's. I wouldn't hesitate to go with a Stag. For the money, you can't go wrong. I used M4's professionally, and can honestly say, if I was issued a Stag with some small mods, I would've been a happy camper.

Hi Brad, from what I can gather, there are better options out there.

Did you have a look at this thread as it adds a couple of new options to what type of rifle?

Thanks for all the advice ..... decided i will go for M&P15-22 for now. Cheaper ammo resulting in much more shooting time and wife can also learn and use thus softening her for later 556 purchase.

Can’t go wrong with the 15-22!

Except you need to find a 15-22 which is super rare now

I have one and still say a pcc is still a better option and cheaper to shoot. Currently .22 ammo is close to R2 or more per shot. And a 15-22 chews them up by the brick.
