They occasionally pop up on the auctions which Classic Arms hold!

Wouldn't it be possible to reload existing shells? One might need to drill them to take shotgun caps? The rest should not be too difficult.

    Is this really true?
Funny looking little piece that really works!

Yes, but accuracy was poor and effect variable when using the indirect method. So often targets were engaged directly. The post mortem could not determine whether the baton had bounced on the tarmac or not, as it was not there to examine...

How bad must the accuracy be to miss a crowd of people?

You can imagine the predictability of the trajectory, when an elongated hard rubber baton bounces off a rough surface. It can go anywhere.

Yip, the 37mm round cannot be fired directly at a person. A close friend of mine killed a guy who was busy lighting a Molotof with it when his commander told him to fire it at the guy. The suspect was apparently about 5m away.

This during unrest in the early 80's.

That stopper is a beast, witnessed many guys firing directly at rioters when things got hairy. Does some serious hurt.

Yup, hence the less injurious 'REDUCED' round introduced in the 80s commonly known as the 'Helen Suzman' round after the lady who campaigned that the baton was too dangerous.
