Of course - like all M-S rifles.

Yes, Brenneke , this is what makes the Mannlicher Schoenauer difficult and extremely expensive to scope...

Peter(Sir) I would point out , to me this is the only feature where the Mannlicher Schoenauer are inferior to the Mauser action ...it therefore makes it extremely expensive to scope a Mannlicher Schoenauer..although a .458 caliber really does not need a scope at all..all close up hunting /walk and stalk hunts on plains game and warthog is a great rifle to use ..

Nice grain flow from the comb area through the grip area. Should hold for many shots, if the rifle are going to be used though.

Agreed Gert. However the magazine is arguably a better design than the Mauser and they are also beautifully built. The Greek military didn't deserve them

Adoons, there is no reason what so ever for this rifle not to be used to hunt duiker, springbok or eland and giraffe...the professional hunters from yester -year used their big bore rifles to shoot game for camp meat..I am using my 404 Jeffery for Impala, warthog and anything else...this coming hunting season I will be walk and stalking a few warthogs and blue-wildebeest with the .458 Mannlicher Schoenauer..

    Thanks
    Another question --
Did I see two triggers ? ( yes I understand the concept -- very much a European thing )
How would this work in an SA walk and stalk type hunt -- especially in thick bush ?
There would be time to use the two trigger scenario for a set-up or staged shot or long range shot but is this a long range rifle and calibre ?
    Just curious
