6mm ARC by Hornady
This new cartridge looks like it’ll tick all the boxes to reach out to a 1000m from a AR platform and perhaps out perform the 6.5 Creed. Time will tell.

Hats off to Hornady. They keep on bringing out new cartridges that you never knew you needed. Each one better than the previous. Starting to become like cellphone companies.

Re: 6mm ARC by Hornady
Imagine shooting this in a SLR and it throws your scarce Hornady brass into the long grass...
I would like it in a mini-action bolt action rifle. It would almost be like a 6BR that feeds from a normal magazine. All the advantages of a 6mm without the excessive barrel wear of the overbore cases.

Re: 6mm ARC by Hornady
After some reading, it seems that the ARC is a 6.5 Grendel case, necked down and slightly shortened. Where the Creedmoor was designed to fit the AR10 action, the ARC (like the Grendel parent) is designed to fit the shorter AR15 action. Like the Creedmoor, it has also been designed to shoot longer modern bullets.
I don't think there is a way this will outperform the Creedmoor. The ARC has a smaller case capacity and significantly lower pressure limit. On the plus side, the barrel should last much longer because of the lower pressure and reduced muzzle velocity. Also, recoil may be somewhat less because of it.

Gun is just waiting for a couple parts for the lower, aftermarket saftey and new recoil system with stock then it's time to stretch those legs.
