Section 15 or 16 Application Requirements for First Time FA.
Hi Good People
I'm unable to see if a similar question has been posted before, but please advise on the following:
I will be applying for a license for my first FA, it will definitely be either Section 15 or Section 16 - which depends on me completing DSS status. (Out of interest, I bought a M&P 2.0 compact)
As part of my documents for submissions will I also be required to provide evidence that I already participated in sport shooting activities. eg. Personal scores, log books etc.?
I already have the following documents:
Membership Certificate indicating that I am an Occasional Sport Person and in Good Standing.
Membership Certificate indicating the type of Sport shooting the club members participate in.
Still in progress:
Acquiring Dedicated Status
Applying for Endorsement from Club
Motivation.
confirmation that FA is linked to dealer code.
Thanks guys.

You don’t even need club membership to apply for section 15. But why not section 13 self Defence, will give you more options? Renewal every 5 years though!

Re: Section 15 or 16 Application Requirements for First Time FA.
Well you said it, don't want the schlep of having to renew every 5 years, also I really do intend on participating in sport and defensive shooting activities. Why will Section 13 give me more options?
As mentioned, I actually hoping to apply for Section 16 - but it is dependant on me receiving DSS status first - but the lock down regulations is slowing this down.

Re: Section 15 or 16 Application Requirements for First Time FA.
Typically, the first requirement in the Act's sections is that the firearm is not fully auto...best way to attest to that in your app is to get a gunsmith report.
I've not had to pay for them before so it's been easy...but include a blurb from the S&W website about the firearm's action, indicating it is indeed a semi-auto, if you can't get your hands on any other testament indicating that.

Re: Section 15 or 16 Application Requirements for First Time FA.
The only time I have ever needed a gunsmiths report is when renewing an SLR where they were correcting the calibre code.
