    Vudoogunworks...

But for us mere mortals, the 455 or 457 will do. My 457 Varmint is waiting patiently at the dealer to come home.

Definitely CZ455 for rifle practice....I love my 10/22 TD, but it is a (hungry) fun plinker, not a marksman's rifle

Both rifles have pro's and cons and licencing will certainly be more difficult for the Ruger.

However if you could only buy one which would it be and why?

    Thank you for the assistance.
What do you want to do with it? I have a Bruno Std bolt action and a SW M&P15-22 semi auto. Both are fun in their own way but if you see what .22 ammo cost now, I can reload 9mmP for same price or cheaper, what about a 9mm PCC? That will be my next toy.

How's the pricing? That's the only thing that made me go with the 455. There was a R6000 difference at the time(first lot of 457s)

Buy a 455 and spend the 6K difference on buing 5000 rounds of good quality ammo. should last a month or 2 :)

Depends on the purpose off course, but I would get the bolt action first. Bolt guns are generally much less fussy about ammo. They shoot the cheap unplated ammo reliably and quite accurately. A semi-auto usually prefers plated HV ammo, which is more expensive. A semi-auto is also very HUNGRY. Yes, I love my 10/22, but depending on application, the bolt action usually gets preference.

If you get into practical shooting and need a semi-auto, the S&W M&P 15-22 is superior to the Ruger.

I concur with both of the above statements! Personally I own a BRNO Mod 2E and I'm waiting for my licence for my S&W M&P15-22! First go for the CZ455/457 which is the more modern version of the BRNO Mod 2 and if you do some research you'll discover that the S&W has a few distinct advantages over the Ruger!
