A bed roll, also called a Swag Bag by the Aussies, is a bag that contains mattress, bedding and a ground sheet.
Literally it is a bed that can be rolled up and would include a ground sheet and cover to protect against hard ground and light rain.

Bed Rolls are popular with Campers, Offroaders and the homeless (No kidding: check out how many homeless folk use their ingenuity to create there own comfortable bed roll which they need to move around)

In the 70 and 80's this was was a highly prized inventory item for any leader group in military and kept the cold away at De Brug and Lohatla military training areas. Unfortunately this item is now obsolete and good to know still available today. I would recommend this to to any hunter or camper, especially if they have to sleep in the open or a tent in colder areas.
