The Kori Bustard is the heaviest flying bird, it was hunted to extinction by the early trekkers settlers in some areas, South West, Namibia etc Being a birds new arrivals have resettled in the old areas. The kori would feed so eagerly in the planted lands in the early days that stories abound of them not being able to take flight after feeding. They were then easy meat. The Dik Kop was also shot to extinction in the mentioned areas, and has not made a come back yet.
