    No, not Ludwig's child born out of wedlock. Ludwig's Bustard, Ludwigse Pou in Afrikaans. A relative of the Kori Bustard (Gompou).

    I thought it was a Stanley bustard.

    I've never seen Stanley's, or for that matter Kori, Bustards in our area. Ludwig's Bustard are quite common here but are apparently fairly rare in general.

    Yes, it is smaller than Stanley's and a lot smaller than the Kori Bustard. Still a fairly big bird though.
