    Hi,

    Just thinking out aloud. Perhaps the best is to work backwards.

    Make a note of;
    - Maximum time you think you will spend "unpowered", be that driving or camped.
    - Will you have solar fitted for the times you do not drive?
    - Current draw of the fridge / fridges.
    - Average trip duration per day.
    - Lighting requirements and type of lighting.

    I think these questions may well focus you on what you require.

    So from what I understand the Cruiser already has an auxiliary battery. What is the rating of this battery in Ah?

    I once planned a Johannesburg / Botswana / Namibia / Cape Town / Johannesburg trip and soon realised that I would end up driving so many km's per day that the auxiliary battery would remain fully charged. The battery would be required to provide lighting and fridge power at the coolest time of the day from say 16:00 to 10:00 so fridge power for 16 hours and lights for circa 4. A 100Ah would have delivered this no problems for my 3 LED's and 72l fridge.

    I also have a very long extension cord in case I need to power the fridge via mains when available.

    If you plan on base camping for a couple of days then solar may be an option.

    A third battery sound like a bit of an overkill, but if you encounter a week of overcast conditions while not driving then perhaps not.

    Hugely expensive for what it is.
