Anyone here shooting Sporting Clays / FITASC /Compak?
Anyone shooting the above mentioned disciplines?
Is there an SA forum where these shooters are active?
I'm looking to cross reference opinions and other information on topics such as choke and shot size selection.

Re: Anyone here shooting Sporting Clays / FITASC /Compak?
Hello there. I do shoot standard disciplines as well as sporting. I'm not sure of a dedicated clay shooting forum, but I don't see why we cannot have some clay related threads here.

Here's the main body for Clay Pigeon shooting in SA. This would probably be your best starting point:

Yip CTSASA is the people.
They will sent you list of all accredited ranges. As well as details of competitions in year that are accredited for scoring nationally in these disciplines.
In CPT area it will be Valley Gun Club you will need to compete at for National scoring.

Re: Anyone here shooting Sporting Clays / FITASC /Compak?
Hi Socrates,
I mainly shoot FITASC Sporting,
But some people change their chokes on every stand(problem is you are focusing on the chokes and not on the clays you will be shooting),most leave them in and forget about them.
Generally though on your club local club days most people will get by with a 1/4 and 1/2 choke on an O/U shotgun.
When you shoot the more challenging competitions you will see people using 1/2 and 3/4 chokes for those far clays.
I personally prefer tighter chokes because I feel it forces me to be more precise.

Hi Scalci
You can go to https://www.ctsasa.co.za/clubs/ and filter the clubs by region.
The guys are very friendly and always looking to introduce new people to the sport.
