Default US kydex holsters world looking at

I’ve got a friend in small town USA who has decided at the age of 73 to buy himself his first ever EDC and is now looking for a holster and a belt. I’ve said he should look at something from a smaller manufacturer but for the life of me I have hit a blank at some names of preferred guys that have been mentioned here before. Any advice?

There are dozens of choices here in the US.

Safariland 7378 ALS level 2 retention holster for EDC. They are about $70.

Comptac in Houston makes very good kydex also. I don't think they make retention type though. You don't want someone disarming you in a scuffle.

As for belts Blackhawk or 5.11 riggers belt. Any belt that is very stiff will work. Kramerleather.com makes one from double horsehide leather. Very good for dress up times.

The Safariland comes with both belt and paddle setup. I use the paddle setup in the summer because I usually wear canvas shorts. You don't need a belt for the paddle just lock it over the waistband. It is very secure.

Your friend better get going now, things are being sold out by the minute.
