Panther Leo
So I followed up a lead which led to me finding a bargain Lion hunt in the Kalahari!
Captivity bred lion on a vast hunting ground. I have to stick to shooting a female specimen this round.
Have not been this excited since I was a teenager!
My ammo will be Remington loaded 400grain Swift-A-frames.
My SAKO/Truvelo 416 Remington will be scoped with a 1-6x24 Vortex scope in Warne QD mounts with illuminated reticle. I have the same setup currently on my 8x57 Amberg to practise with.
The 2-3 day hunt hunt is on foot, expecting to walk a lot. Apart from comfortable shoes, hat, backpack and a gun what would you suggest I pack? I am walking a lot in the estate lately as well as jogging a bit.
The hunt is in six week.

Re: Panther Leo
Sounds like you are in for a great hunt! Do you get to keep the skin and skull etc?

Re: Panther Leo
LOL I've tasted lion before and realized I'd only do it again if really hungry

Re: Panther Leo
I have guided quite a few years back. They can be really exciting or a real bangflop bore. It depends on your outfitter, area and very importantly the release period of the lion. A lot of outfitters will BS you into saying it's been there months when you can see the wet spot on the rump and slight swelling from a tranquilizer dart used for moving the animal.
That said I've always found captive bred lions more aggressive and always more nervous around them.
Don't be rushed into anything and enjoy it.

Sounds great! I still have to go cat hunting...
How much are you paying for the hunt? I am curious if there is a few bargains available this year now that the international market is screwed...
