Backlog with printing of licence cards

SAPS “forgot” to renew the contract with the government printers. No cards have been printed for a while. Apparently the new contract has been signed and printing resumed last week but of course there is now a massive backlog.

It’s ironic how saps expects us to renew our licenses 90 days before they expire but they failed to renew their contract 90 days before.

I have just received some renewal cards 7 weeks after the licence dates.

Lucky you, I'm still waiting 10 weeks since approval now.

So my license was approved 23 Sep, and the card was printed 14 October. So they are printing.
Have not yet checked at the DFO though to see if it is there yet.

How do you know when it's printed, do you have to phone the dfo? Mine was approved 13 Sept, haven't heard anything yet

I believe a card takes about +-6 weeks to arrive at DFO from approval. But could be longer if after the printing contract issue.

So from 13 Sept I believe your looking at end Oct for card to be at DFO
