Re: Pseudo roe deer hunting at dusk in the German countryside
I reckon he knew it was a red and got trigger happy. Blaming his Hawke scope now. Just wanted to see his kid’s reaction to the blood and gore.

Re: Pseudo roe deer hunting at dusk in the German countryside
Thanks for the honest write up!
(After joining a novice for his 1st rooibok, he bagged a nyala ewe through some brush. All involved contributed to the difference in costs, so that it would be a lesson for all of us. )

Re: Pseudo roe deer hunting at dusk in the German countryside
My old man is a wise one and gave me this piece of advice when I was to young to appreciate it's significance. There is no worthless experience but it comes in two flavours, namely positive and negative. Even when things are going badly pear shaped you are getting valuable experience which will pay dividends the next time you see a similar set of circumstances.

Re: Pseudo roe deer hunting at dusk in the German countryside
Thanks for the lovely perspective with respect to hunting in another country. In ZA we rarely have to think about backstops, but having lived in Holland for a few years, I can understand how perilous each shot taken must be.
