Competency cards?
My handgun Competency renewal has finally been approved after 8 months.
Is SAPS printing competency cards again or still just a printout?
Could not find any reliable info on Facebook.
Thanks

Re: Competency cards?
Whe I got my compentcy the first time in 2018, they also only did printouts because there was a backlog for printing licenses.
I went yesterday and got a print out within 5 minutes, so can't complain.
The DFO by me is pretty decent

Re: Competency cards?
They were supposed to bring competency cards in for security personnel who struggle with the paper.
They screwed it up and started cards for everyone.
Then they took it away for everyone.

Re: Competency cards?
I was reading some mixed versions of the above on Facebook.
For business use, if you need to carry it daily, a card makes sense. Compact and resistant.
For the rest of us, it will only see the light of day when it's time to renew / apply for a license.
Speaking to the DFO at my station, he mentioned that on a Provincial level (gauteng) and National level, the CFR needs more resources and better management. He said it's chaos to walk into the CFR.
Just having a standard process would make operations easier. But oh well

Re: Competency cards?
I have never had a competency card issue since the inception of the FCA.

Re: Competency cards?
My competency during 2017 was also a print out.
Attached the very same copy two days ago to my new firearm application.
