Yeah for sure, also got the Musgrave proof marks on the bolt shroud that I found today

Gonna ring Cobus (https://www.guntechnz.co.nz/about-us ) tomorrow and see what he thinks, my plan is to remove the barrel and keep it complete with reference marks, so at any stage it could be reinstalled, and get a 9.3x62 barrel installed with express sights and barrel band sling swivel, and maybe refinish the stock.

That way the heritage is still there, and can be changed back at any point and all the work is done by a Musgrave master gunsmith

A bit of a shot in the dark. Anyone have experience with the new Musgraves if one could still call them that? Specifically with their new M21 action as well. The photos on FB sure look spectacular!

That 30-06 you have has a S/147 receiver. That is a pre WWII german Sauer and Sohn one. At some point they put a 30-06 barrel on it to replace the 8mm mauser one. I have seen a couple of hunting rifles here in the states that have german wwii recvr's on them. Pretty rare though.

Just got a quote on the 300h&h from musgrave, they can do a control feed or the new M21 push feed. The nutmeg laminate is awesome

I recently found a PDF book (Firearms from South Africa 1949 -2000 Optimized) on a Telegram group that really goes into the history of Musgrave, the various models, barrels and actions with exllent photos and descriptions. Using this book I determined that my Musgrave .308 is a Vrystaat MK III version.

If its ok to share I can post the PDF book in here.

That sounds somewhat like an unauthorised soft copy of this:
    https://www.thequartermaster.co.za/product/Book-Firearms-Developed-&-Manufactured-in-Southern-Africa-1949-2000

I'm not aware of an ebook version. In respect for the guys that spend a lot of time and effort putting the book together I'd suggest not sharing that on an open platform.

As an owner of the original book, I fully agree.

I have a signed first edition that's probably the book I value the most. It's an absolutely first class reference work. I'd love to see an authorised ebook go up as I'm sure it would generate some useful revenue for the contributors and publishers. It would also spare me the chore of washing my hands before taking it out of its box to settle wine fuelled arguments.
