Competency Validity

Hi

Just checking if there's any effort currently ongoing of anyone trying to make competencies not expire?

There's always been the confusion about when does a competency actually expire:-

- Does it expire if a person has his competency, but does not apply for a license for a good few years?

-The competency expires when the license for that firearm category expires.
(What happens if a person has 2 firearms in 1 category licensed at different years)

- The competency doesn't expire, because there's no date of expiry written.


Can the competency be likened to a learners certificate, in the sense that there shouldn't be a need to renew it?

This confusion starts at a DFO level .. they all have their own rules/ interpretations/ opinions etc etc on the validity of such .
